Class tracking

If your accounting plan (Chapter 2) calls for classes, class tracking must be turned on. In QuickBooks? 4 and earlier, this is done by clicking (in the menu bar) Preferences, then, in the menu, Transactions. In that window, check Use class tracking. Note that Transactions is below the dividing line, meaning that the selection is local to the company file currently loaded. In QuickBooks? 5, click File then Preferences and select Accounting to find make this choice.
