Are you ready for  YK2 (YEAR 2000)?

CPAs can be sued for not telling clients about Y2K. Michael Block, CPA has programmed, sold and consulted on computers, and heavily used them, for more than 35 years. It is VERY important, especially for QuickBooks users to heed his advice.

Mike explains that very few three-year-old computers and programs will run properly in the year 2000. Some credit card systems have already failed on cards expiring in the year 2000. Other programs will fail September 9, 1999 due to 9999 error codes. Invoice programs may fail, when invoices are due in 2000.

Since 1968 computers capacity has doubled every 18 months. New systems are four times as fast as three-year-old ones. Some programs do exist to test and partly fix questionable systems, but they rarely find all problems and fixing these old systems usually wastes money in the long run. You should replace QuickBooks NOW and all three-year-old computers and programs this year.

There are other good reasons to switch to QuickBooks 99:

bullet Microsoft Word and Excel integration. With QB99 Pro you can quickly and easily send one or many accurate letters to customers, vendors or employees. QB does Word mail merges much faster and easier than Microsoft does. You can choose Write letters, Collection letters, and a weak, medium or strong letter. Even if you have little computer knowledge, you can easily select whether to send letters to some customers, all customers or all customers over 90 days past due (for example). You also can customize or create Word letters and should soon be able to cheaply buy countless letters in many categories. They will automatically merge all your QB information, saving you time and making you money.
bullet QB99 has a stopwatch timer, so it is easy to track billable time. It pays and bills owner or contractor time and runs cash flow reports. It has the four-digit year display you will soon need and smart page breaks to better split reports. It sorts and selects 9-digit zip codes for labels. It has a purchase order by job report and tracks customers and drop ship addresses on purchase orders. It even prints deposit slips with cash back tracking. If you still use QB5, QB6 added multi-user capability, payroll support for employee benefits, a payroll setup wizard, register sorting, enhanced password protection, one click access to internet resources and is on-line payroll tax service compatible.
bullet TurboTax 1998 integration. Another reason you must immediately update to QB99. The 1998 professional version of TurboTax only transfers QB6 and 99 data. It takes about an hour to do a corporate income tax return manually and a half-hour to manually change it for each tax-cutting QB change. However, automatic changes using TurboTax 1998 take15 seconds. So you can see why using QB99 will save you preparation time or charges. Each QB version also changes file formats, so prior versions no longer read them. Therefore, unless you use QB99 you will not see our changes in your copy of QB.
bullet QB Payroll Tax Service.  A new QB payroll service can easily and cheaply save you, and your employees and contractors, lots of time, money and aggravation. Start payroll as you do now, but do not put checks in your printer, print, or sign them. Instead, email your data with a few easy mouse clicks. The service mails checks or makes deposits to employee accounts, pays all taxes and files all returns on time. This means no penalties, interest, or government notices.

QB Payroll Tax Service costs only $20 dollars a month and $1.50 a check. This is half of what the big ADP service charges and less than accountants charge for the tax returns alone.  This option even includes a copy of the brand-new QuickBooks 99 program, which was $169 before rebate at Best Buy.
